Oxidization

#18 Banana Pin - Rebecca DuBois

This piece I did using an embroidery pin on a banana. I poked holes into the banana which, after several minutes, causes the beginning of the process of oxidization. Only the pin pricked holes turn brown. The inspiration behind this piece was my trip to England, where I ate banana’s every morning for breakfast. The decision to put the clock tower that holds Big Ben on the banana came from the fact that it was the first thing I saw in London, which I saw while eating my breakfast banana.
